Becky Ann Roettger (Barker), born November 4, 1982, passed away peacefully at her home on her 41st birthday, November 4, 2023, in Plant City, Florida, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. What a birthday gift—to enter her final home and meet Jesus face-to-face! She was born at Tampa General Hospital and was the youngest of five girls.
Becky lived much of her life in Indiana, specifically the Western Wayne area. Although she moved to Florida to receive special pancreatic cancer treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center, where she was cared for by her family, she loved small-town living. She had friends from every age group and every walk of life. Becky was loyal and generous and would do anything for her friends. However, her number one priority were her children and that was obvious to anyone who knew her. She loved her children deeply and was a most proud and doting mother.
Becky worked at Henry County Community Hospital in the Emergency Department. She was a dedicated employee and was dearly loved by her colleagues. Becky brought her sense of humor, infectious laugh and her willingness to always help with her every day that she worked. Her unforgettable, heartwarming smile and upbeat attitude came to be what she was most known for throughout the hospital. However, her positive attitude was most noticeable during this past year as she courageously battled her diagnosis, remaining optimistic until the very end. She wanted more than anything to live life to the fullest!
Becky loved all things Christmas (especially Hallmark movies), animals, people, and most importantly, God. She never knew a stranger and was always willing to put the needs of others before her own. She enjoyed crafting, fashion, Dr. Pepper and shopping. She was always open to a new adventure and loved to socialize. She was fond of good food, good music and good conversation; Becky truly embodied the “good stuff” in life. Her tenacity, bubbly personality, kindness, compassion, light-heartedness, upbeat and enthusiastic approach to life, charm, and cheerful disposition are amongst the many positive character traits that she displayed regularly, and seemingly effortlessly. She was truly one-of-a-kind and made a lasting impression on every person she met. She will be deeply missed by so many.
Becky is survived by her children, Evan and Alexiz Roettger; mother- Bonnie Barker; father- Tommy Barker; sisters- Kerri (Robbie) Wittmeyer, Stacey (Russ) Butler, Mindy (Joe) Tolison, and Tonni Barker; her extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and fur babies; and an abundance of friends. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Mike Buckland, to whom she was very close and loved very much.
There will be a Celebration of Life held in her honor at the Cambridge City Christian Church, located at 106 W. Church Street, Cambridge City, IN, on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Eulogy services will begin at 5:30 in the Chapel with fellowship of remembrance to follow thereafter in the Ministry center.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Wayne Bank and Trust for Evan and Alexiz Roettger. You may send your contributions directly to any branch of the bank in care of “The Evan and Alexiz fund.”
