Zelda “Joyce” Aaron, 90, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Community Hospital in Anderson. She was born September 4, 1931 in Albany, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Herbert “Delmer” and Vera “Iva” (Cummings) Pitman.
Joyce retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1985 after 33 ½ years of service. She enjoyed traveling with her husband & friends. Joyce loved flowers, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Lana Jo (Bob) McDaniels of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Shanelle (Will) Shadday of Anderson and Christopher (Tristin) McDaniels of Mt. Summit; two sisters, Wanda (Ken) Black of Muncie and Gay (Cass) Shook of Anderson; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Aaron; brother, Larry “Oz” Pitman; sisters, Macine Weiman & Donna June Young.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home where facial coverings will be optional.
