Wovie Wampler, 95, Cambridge City, after a brief  earthly eight day separation from her husband Charles, Wovie was greeted by him again for eternity on Monday evening February 7, 2022.  A daughter of the late Luther and Della (Cornett) Gay, Wovie was born in Clay County, Kentucky on July 8, 1926.  Wovie met her future husband while he was working at the Rock Island gas station in Cambridge City and they would marry on June 30, 1954.  She proudly took on the role of homemaker and also helped with the farming operation as she and Charles raised two sons.  Wovie was never an idle person, she enjoyed working and staying busy whether it was in the kitchen, garden or field.  She has been a member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren for over sixty years.

Survivors include, two sons, Donald F. (Janet) Wampler, Robert (Debra) Wampler; five grandsons, Shawn (Toni) Wampler, Ryan (Derika) Wampler, Kevin (Clara) Wampler, Darrel Wampler, and Allen (Tiffany) Wampler; nine great- grandchildren, Charles (Lori) Wampler, Kasey (Jesse) Tyree, Josh (Makayla) Wampler, Caden Wampler, Brantley Wampler, Alex Wampler, Brenna (Tim) Reed, Austin Wampler, and Ashley Wampler; five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Essie Martin; nieces and nephews.

Wovie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Wampler on January 30, 2022; 3 brothers, Edward, Willard and Kelly Gay.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday February 12, 2022. Rev. Tim Webb will officiate.  Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, north of Dublin.
