Wendell Wadsworth, age 81, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Reid Health, surrounded by his family.
Born January 4, 1941, in Lee County, Kentucky, to Margaret Brandenburg, Wendell lived in Wayne County, Indiana most of his life. He worked for Conrail, formerly Penn-Central Railroad, as a brakeman for 35 years. Wendell enjoyed dirt track racing and had built his own race car. He was an avid bowler having bowled a perfect 300 game. Wendell loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Tandy Wadsworth; children, Wendell Wadsworth, and Cindy Wadsworth-Isaac, both of Richmond; Ginger Wadsworth-Harter (Jerome Swim) of Cambridge City, Indiana; grandchildren Erin, Brandon, Destiny Jo, Steven, Daniel, Megan, and Morgan; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Betty, Kathy (Jimmy), and Rose (David); brothers, Henry (Brenda) and James; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends, who he thought of as family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and siblings Dee, Jerry, John, and Charlie.
Abiding by his wishes, there will be no public services for Wendell Wadsworth. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
