Walter E. Jackson, age 82, of West College Corner, Indiana died Friday, May 27, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
Walter was born July 20, 1939 to Sam and Callie Melton Jackson in Bristol, Tennessee. He married the former Barbara Paxton on September 23, 1961 at the Presbyterian Church in College Corner, Ohio. In Walter’s younger years, he hauled grain to Cincinnati prior to working at the International Harvester in Liberty as a mechanic. In addition he worked for Myron Toole in Cottage Grove. For the last thirty years, he owned his own business, Jackson Farm Repair, working on farm equipment. Walter enjoyed helping the farmers and local community members. He and Barb liked to travel the country in their camper to attend Bluegrass concerts and festivals. Walter had a sense of humor that never faded, he always made his family smile. Above all, he loved spending his time with his family and friends whom will miss him dearly.
In addition to his loving wife of sixty years, Walter is survived by his children and their spouses: Kevin and Tina Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Kelli and Chris Goodwin; sister: Janet Posco; four grandchildren: Kayla Stephen, Allison Jackson, Alex Goodwin, Noah Goodwin; three great-grandchildren: Brantley Stephen, Knox Stephen, Stella Stephen; nephew: Steve Posco.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Ruth Ann Jackson.
A visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 10:30 a.m., until 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Baker Chapel, College Corner. Burial will immediately follow at College Corner Cemetery, West College Corner, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to The Junction in West College Corner in Walter’s honor.
