Thomas (Tommy) J. Dollar was born in rural Upland, IN on June 8, 1940, to Twila and Mary (Boles) Dollar.  Tom was one of 10 children, 7 of whom are still living.  Tom passed away peacefully on September 5, 2022, at home with family by his side.

Tom resided in Richmond, IN for the past 28 years. He grew up and worked on the family farm, also working on a dairy farm and a tomato farm. He also worked at the RCA factory in Marion, IN before eventually landing at John Deere in Gibson City, IL in 1976 which ultimately led him to Richmond, IN.  He retired from John Deere after 35 years.

Tom loved sports and he was a great basketball player in high school.  He was point guard for the Roll High School basketball team, playing varsity his sophomore year and helping to lead the Roll Red Rollers to many wins and he loved this time in his life.  He loved watching all sports, especially the Hoosiers and his favorite was IU Basketball.  Tom always took pride in his home and yard and many people commented his grass looked “like carpet,” of course always mowing with a John Deere!  Tom also loved cars, having way too many to list over his lifetime with some of his favorites being Cadillac, Corvette and Thunderbird.  Much time would be spent at car shows and watching them on TV.  A quieter passion of his was music.  He loved old country, gospel and anything with a melody.  A lifelong dream of his was to learn to play the guitar and he always appreciated anyone that could.

Tom leaves behind four children, Nick (Tammy) Dollar, Angela (Jeff) Wrench, Joel Dollar and Lisa Dollar; seven grandchildren, Nick’s children-Erica, Nicole, Christi, Jennifer & Isabella; Angie’s son-Jesse; and Lisa’s son-Chris; and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thank you to both Reid Hospice and Everheart Hospice that cared for him and supported the family with his care.  There are not enough words of gratitude for the support they provided the family!
