Terry Wayne “Hoppy” Hopkins, 66, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away on Thursday, February 3 in Indianapolis.

   Terry was born on June 29, 1955 in Richmond. He was the youngest son of William James and Mary Jane Shock Hopkins.

   Terry spent his childhood on South 4th Street with his siblings Ronald, Cheryl, Carol and Danny. When he was a teenager, his family moved to Fountain City. His love of music blossomed when he joined the Northeastern High School Band and Jazz Band, where he was an excellent trumpet player.

   Terry married Deborah Stratton on June 14, 1975. They were married 45 years. Together, they were blessed with a son, Jeremy (Deidra); grandchildren, Kourtnee and Grady; and great-grandchildren Elianna and Rayden.

   Terry joined the Richmond Police Department in 1980. He was a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and the Southern Police Institute. He served the community for 33 years before retiring as a Captain. Terry enjoyed target shooting, motorcycling and attending racing events.

   There will be no visitation or funeral. A private graveside service will be conducted in Earlham Cemetery.
