Teresa Duning, 54, of Richmond, IN, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 with her son at her side.

Teresa was born on April 13, 1967 in Richmond. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1985 and went on to serve with the United States Navy as a Navy Seabee. Following her naval service, she graduated from IU East and spent her time raising her family, working in the local Social Security Office, managing rental properties, serving with the Cambridge City American Legion Post 169, serving as Commander of the Navy Seabees Veterans of America Island X-4 chapter in New Castle, and exploring many other endeavors life had to offer her.

Teresa was an exceptional person: kind, generous, tough and resilient. She was a gentle soul full of grounding words of wisdom and spirited laughter. Teresa lived and traveled many places in her life, often staying in an abode on the road: in her camping tent or her Mercury minivan, with her faithful dog Sissy. She never knew a stranger and embraced all those who crossed her path, everywhere from Wayne County to Bermuda to Tennessee, and back again.

She is survived by her mother Carol Ann (Ross) Polver and father David (Pamela) Duning; daughter Ariel (Jerry) Snowden, son Skylar Calvert, and step-daughter McKinnah (Matthew) Harvey, and three grandchildren; brother David Duning III and sister Doris Elizabeth (David) Eldridge; step-brother Brian (Jennifer) Haler and step-sister Andrea (Michael) Stuckey; uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends from all the places she stayed.

Visitation will be held for Teresa on Tuesday January 18, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Faith United Lutheran Church. Services will follow afterward at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at the church. Reverend John Place will officiate.

Flowers may be sent to Faith United Lutheran Church, or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Teresa’s name to Faith United Lutheran Church: 4015 National Road West, Richmond, Indiana 47374.
