Sue Mathews, 66 passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 27, 1955 to Alton and Alma (Westley) Shultz. She was a 1973 graduate of Connersville High School. She and her husband Terry Mathews were married September 15, 1973 and lived in Richmond the remainder of their lives.

Sue and her husband Terry opened the Costume Closet in 1991 and more recently after her husband’s death was the sole proprietor of CC Uniforms, LLC which supplied uniforms and duty gear to several area first responders.

She was active in the local community serving recently on the unsafe building commission, neighborhood services clearinghouse, a former member of C.E.R.T. and Southside Neighborhood association and crime watch.

Sue was kind and caring. She rarely knew a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as family and friends and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Mathews, sister Karen (Shultz) Head and parents, Alton, and Alma Shultz. She is survived by her son, Terry Mathews II, grandchildren Tierney Mathews, Liam Mathews, Rowan Mathews, and Darcy Mathews. Sisters Joyce (George) Cowman and Pam (Bob) Ritz, brother-in-law Robin Head, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation for Sue will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary, 32 South 11th Street, Richmond. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary with Rev. David Daniels officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery following the service.
