Sue Bryant, 84 of New Castle received her Heavenly reward Sunday, September 4, 2022 at her home. She was born December 30, 1937 in McRoberts, Kentucky to the late Robert and Clara (Casada) Shelton.
Sue was a 1956 graduate of New Castle High School. She retired from Citizens State Bank in 2000 where she had worked as a loan officer, following 22 years of service. Sue was formerly employed at Sears Roebuck and Company. An active member of the First Church of the Nazarene, she was a Bible quiz coach, Sunday school teacher and loved caring for babies in the nursery. Sue was also a member of Altrusa and enjoyed boating, housekeeping, yard work and traveling to Gatlinburg with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years: Gary Bryant, whom she married August 5, 1956; a daughter: Dara (Royce) Cook of New Castle; two grandchildren: Kreigh (Megan) Cook of New Castle and Sidney (Andrew) Hall of Monroe, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Cooper, Hadley and one on the way; a sister: Betty (Alan) Bramlett of New Castle; brother-in-law: Cedric “Sonny” Bryant of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sister-in-law: Sharon McClurg of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Fayerene Abston and Robert Shelton, Jr.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Danny Goddard and Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 7 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
