Ronald W. “Bill” Chomel, 87, a lifelong resident of Connersville, passed away Friday morning, March 4, 2022 at Heritage House where he had been a resident since 2019.

He was born October 28, 1934 in Connersville, one of six children of George and Katheren Breitenbach Chomel.

On October 27, 1956, he was married to Rebecca Chaney. Mrs. Chomel survives.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served as an MP at Ft. Lewis in Washington state. He was honorably discharged in 1959.

He owned and operated Chomel and Sons Roofing, Inc., a company founded by his father in 1948. In 2000, he retired after being with the company for 50 years.

He was a member of Central Christian Church, and he had also been a member of the Eagles, Elks, and the Connersville Country Club.

A talented artisan, Bill was passionate about his woodworking and built many elaborate pieces for family and friends.

Survivors, besides his wife of 65 years, Rebecca Chomel, include five children: Kimberly (Randall) Powell of Cambridge City, Denise Webber of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, Jeffrey (Cathy) Chomel of Connersville, Eric (Cindy) Chomel of Connersville, and Jason (Samantha) Chomel of San Diego, California; two sisters, Sue Scott of Ft. Myers, Florida and Kathy Klopp of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a brother, John (Mel) Chomel of Texas; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Chomel; and a sister, Georgia Osborn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Ron Russell on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home where friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
