Pauline Ruth Whitaker Fields, 101, passed away on November 25, 2022 at Arbor Trace in Richmond, IN.  Pauline was born April 20, 1921 to Oscar and Zona Whitaker in Acorn, KY, the oldest of 10 siblings.  She spent most of her childhood in the Southport, IN area.  She met Thomas Field in Indianapolis and was married to him in 1939.

Pauline and Tom spent most of their years in Cambridge City, IN, where they raised their three children: Judy (Bill) Athey of Mundelein, IL, Warren (Diane) Fields of Indianapolis, IN and Daryl (Ruth) Fields of Pershing, IN.

Pauline worked at Kroger Co. for 27 years and was very active in the Wayne County area, particularly after retirement.  She was a member of Cambridge City Christian Church, was active with the Golay Center and served on the Area 9 Council on Aging.  She enjoyed painting, shopping garage sales and ceramics (particularly making Santas from around the world).  Pauline was widely admired as a kind, outgoing, energetic person and was well known for her marvelous baking talents.

In addition to her children, she is survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two brothers, numerous nieces & nephews and extended family.  Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom on October 17, 1986; 7 siblings and a son-in-law, Bill Athey.

There will be calling at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 12 noon until the start of her funeral service at 1:30 pm.  Interment will follow at Zions Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
