Patrick Wallace James, Sr., 73, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord Monday evening, October 10, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 21, 1949 in Connersville to Walter K. James, Sr. and June D. Kendall James, and he graduated from Connersville High School.
Prior to serving as pastor of Hilltop Tabernacle Church, Patrick served in the United States Marines, Navy, and Indiana National Guard. While serving in the Marines during the Vietnam War, Patrick earned many medals, including a Purple Heart. He was also a 100 percent service-connected disabled veteran. Following his service, Patrick supported all of the local veteran agencies.
Above all, he loved the Lord and going to church. In his leisure, he enjoyed campfires, log splitting, sitting in his swing, and traveling. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Patrick worked professionally as a truck driver and was also employed at Ford and MEG.
Survivors include three children, Tonya Ann James of Connersville, Misty (Lee) Grimm of Everton, and Patrick (Jen) James, Jr. of Connersville; grandchildren, J.D. (Megan) Ervin, Aaron (Cierra) Ervin, Daniel (Lisa) Shaul, Jr., Tony James, Miranda (Catherine) Grimm, Trisha Grimm, Joshua (Cheyenne) Grimm, Blake (Hannah) Grimm, G.G. Grimm, Hunter (Destiny) Gibbs, and Lexus Gibbs; great grandchildren, Kayden, Izayah, Colten, Nevaeh, Theo, and Ivy Ervin, , Daniel “3” Shaul, III, Braylon Gibbs, Callie Flannery, Willow Gibbs, Braelynn Bright, Sophia Grimm, Katelyn Steele, and Windsor Roberts; siblings, Carolyn Davisson, Annabelle Emswiller, and Danny James; and Patrick’s companion/service dog, Mischief.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Teresa “Peanut” James; his lifelong friend and mother of his children, Patty Cole James; two brothers, Ed James, Sr. and Walter K. James, Jr. AKA “Bootie”; two sisters, Marilyn Quantz and Jenell James; and a great granddaughter, Aristella Ervin.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday with Reverend Charlie Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
