Opal J. Swank, age 86, passed away at her daughter’s residence on March 25, 2022.  She was born February 23, 1936, the daughter of Ralph Eugene and Marie Cora Ellen Turner, in Richmond, Indiana.

Opal graduated from Paris Illinois High School and had worked for Donnolly’s Publication in Crawfordsville, Indiana, and The Graphic Press in Richmond, Indiana. She enjoyed retirement, watching television, spending time with friends and family and bowling in her younger years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter: Stacey Johnston; two grandsons: George Howard and Steven Howard, both of Richmond; five great grandchildren; brother: Gerald Turner (Marilyn); two sister-in-law’s: Patty Turner and Pat (Chuck) Pearman; brother-in-law: Robert (Teresa) Swank; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Sam Swank (2000); mother: Marie Cora Ellen Stricker Turner; father: Ralph (Lucille) Turner; three sisters and their husbands: Betty Thornburg (Glen), Janine Wright (Gene) and Anna Sweet (Ken); two brothers: Ralph Turner and his wife, Linda and David Turner; mother and father-in-law: Ray and Louise Swank; and a son-in-law: Rick Johnston.

Public visitation will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.  Burial will take place at a later date at Goshen Cemetery.  Send online condolences to the family via the guestbook at www.communityfamilyfh.com
