Norman Lewis “Hooter” Moore, 71, a long time Hagerstown and surrounding area resident, died Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Majestic Care of Connersville.
He was born in New Castle on May 13,1950 to Jeff Frank and Addie Mae (Ladd) Moore. He grew up on a chicken farm outside of Hagerstown, attended Millville and Hagerstown Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Hagerstown High School. He was a longtime employee of Kemper Cabinet Outlet in Richmond. He will be remembered by many as unique, quick witted character who loved to crack a joke and make people laugh…and his love for Sugar, his pet rooster. He brought his sense of humor with him no matter where he was or the circumstances he was facing.
Survivors include 2 siblings, Mildred Harrison of Kokomo and Vaughn Moore (Carol) of Newport News, VA; 2 sisters-in-law, Juanita Moore of Greens Fork and Sandee Moore of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 siblings, infant Marilyn Moore, Everett Moore and Ronald Moore; brother-in-law Bill Harrison.
A celebration of his life will be from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Culberson Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
A special thank you to the staff at Centerstone’s Pierson House, Gina Fioto and many others for taking care of Norman and his needs for the last few years. A BIG thank you to John and the staff at Majestic Care of Connersville for the love and care they provided for Norman while allowing him to live his best life during his last few months.
