Nella Young, age 96, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Golden LivingCenter – Golden Rule.
Born January 13, 1926, in Irvine, Kentucky, to Henry and Bessie Snowden Clem, Nella lived in Wayne County, Indiana, most of her life, including 61 years in Greens Fork. She worked at Reid Hospital for 20 years. Nella was known for her quick wit. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and had made many, many quilts over the years, which she generously gave away. Nella was loved by everyone who met her and impacted many lives. She loved her family dearly, and they loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Shockney and Judy Young (Keith Hanscome), both of Richmond; son, Paul Young of Hagerstown, Indiana; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. Jack Young, who died April 26, 1986; parents; sisters, Lou Harrison, Dean Noel, and Emma Wickett; and brothers, Brook, Asa, Orville, and Edmond Clem.
Visitation for Nella Young will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
