Nancy L. Sanford, age 78, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Reid Health.
Born June 29, 1943, in Richmond, Indiana, to Oliver L. “Hosey” and Norma I. Blunk Dalbey, Nancy was a life-long resident of this community. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1961 and attended Ball State University. Nancy worked at Second National Bank for 18 years. She was also the co-owner of Cruise Adventure & Travel along with her husband, Don, for 24 years. Together, they served as master cruise counselors and traveled extensively, including taking yearly vacations even when their children were young. Nancy always said her best vacation was her next one.
Nancy was an active member of Boston United Methodist Church, including being part of the Boston United Methodist Women (BUMW) and serving as treasurer since 1991. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Nancy was the Boston Township Trustee/Assessor from 1978-1990. She formerly belonged to the Girl Scouts, 4-H, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls of Eastern Star, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Nancy enjoyed bowling every Sunday night on the “No Name” bowling league with Don for 20 years. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, and playing cards. Nancy loved her home and always welcomed family and friends there. She was always active in her children and grandchildren’s school activities, as well and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Christy (Tarkus) Katz and David Sanford, both of Richmond; grandchildren, Deianira and Hudson Katz; sister, Nisa McAdams of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Don Sanford, who died August 26, 2015; parents; and brother, Norman Dalbey.
Visitation for Nancy L. Sanford will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm B. Greene officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
