Michael Eugene Purvis, Sr., 65, of New Castle, died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.
He was born on December 26, 1956 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Claude and Betty Marie (Lawrence) Purvis.
Mike was a graduate of Tri High School. He worked for a farmer in Straughn for many years and also owned his own lawn care business. Mike also worked for Raintree Industries and was a crossing guard as well. He was an Indianapolis Colts Fan, enjoyed fishing, and loved going to Mt. Lawn Racetrack.
Those left to cherish Mike’s memory include his wife, Jennifer Purvis; a son, Michael Purvis, Jr., and a step-daughter, Gretchen Reynolds all of Jasonville; a daughter, Kaylee (Roger) Greenwood of Linton; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Adrian, Makenzie, Makelsie, and Dominic Reynolds, and Stephen, Harlee, and Maxwell Greenwood; two brothers, Charlie Purvis of New Castle and Ray Purvis of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Becky Lamberson of New Castle, and a niece, Deena Lamberson.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at The Place, 205 S. 21st Street, New Castle, with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Cremation will follow.
