Melba K. McDivitt, age 80, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Reid Health. Born August 14, 1941, in Ray, Ohio, to Ray and Hazel McCray Doles, Melba attended Jackson School in Campbellstown, Ohio.
She was a 1959 graduate of West Milton High School in West Milton, Ohio. Melba was a 1984 graduate of the IU East Nursing Program and worked as a registered nurse at Reid Health for 20 years. Her family lovingly referred to her as “Nurse MaMaw”. She was a member of the Boston Homemakers Club, Hoosier Honeys Homemaker Club, and several euchre clubs. Melba was a big Cincinnati Reds fan and Indiana University basketball fan. She was a member of the Fayette County Farm Bureau Board. Melba and Everett owned and operated McDivitt’s Round Barn Farm for decades in Fayette County. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren play sports. Melba had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Everett McDivitt; children, Joe (Cathy) McDivitt of Connersville, Indiana, Cora McDivitt Binder of Lebanon, Ohio, Monty McDivitt of Laguna Niguel, California, and Matt (Kristy) McDivitt of Richmond, Indiana; grandchildren, April McDivitt (Ed) Schilling, Eric Binder, Amanda Binder (Andrew) Coots, Mandy McDivitt (Andy) Eliason, Deidra Binder, Dakota McDivitt, and Carson McDivitt; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Janet (Roger) Grothaus of Awendaw, South Carolina, Donna Burnette of Bedford, Texas, Dr. Lon (Jennifer) Doles of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and Pam (Randy) Yoakum of Union, Ohio; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Doles.
Visitation for Melba K. McDivitt will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain Dave Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery.
