Mary Lee McCurdy, 86, of Richmond, died May 25, 2022, at Ambassador Healthcare after an extended illness. She was born June 23, 1935, in Omar, West Virginia to Russell and Dama Sexton Purvis and lived here since 1956. She worked as a Professional Secretary formerly working at the Atlas Underwear Company, AVCO, and retired from Belden Corporation. She attended Southview Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the American Businesswomen’s Association. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and traveling. she also enjoyed playing the piano, singing karaoke with the family, and attending shows at Richmond Civic Theater.
Survivors include her two sons Michael (Kimberly) McCurdy of Richmond and Steven (Mary) McCurdy of Hays, North Carolina, and her daughter Melanie Fasnacht of new Paris, Ohio, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and also leaves behind a special friend of many years Joyce McDonald. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Dallas (Mary) Purvis and Johnny (Jean) Purvis, and two sisters Louise (Robert) Krantz, and Joan (James) Michaels.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home 222 North 10th Street. Her burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimers Association 50 East 91st Street #100 Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
