Mary L. Wilmot, age 82, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Reid Health surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on June 29, 1939, in Richmond, Indiana, to Clarence and Mary Trotter. She lived in Richmond all her life, except for the 15 years she lived in Rockmart, Georgia. Mary was a member of The Journey Life Center in Richmond. She served as a volunteer at The Ginkgo Boutique at Reid Health for 12 years. The matriarch of her family, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

There are no words that can express the love Mary’s husband, children, and grandchildren have received throughout her time here on earth. She was a very special lady, who treated everyone in the same manner. We have laughed and cried and, with God’s grace and the strength this little lady imparted to each of us, we will survive. We will miss her, but have a blessed assurance and confidence that we will be with her again.

In the last week, Mary was surrounded by those she loved. We thank everyone for their overwhelming support and prayers. An outpouring of beautiful comments has also been made concerning Mary. Her story will continue to be told through our lives.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Elmer Wilmot; daughters, Diana (Bruce) Alexander of Arcanum, Ohio, and Karen (Mike) Cooper and Jennifer (Michael) Stonebraker, both of Richmond; son, James (Dawn) Brown of Richmond; three bonus daughters, Sandy Jefferies and Rosie Wilmot, both of Richmond and Kelly (Bob) McEwen of Cleveland, North Carolina; brother, Donald (Darlene) Trotter of Richmond; sister-in-law, Sue Trotter of Richmond; brothers-in-law, Earl (Debby) Smith of Rockmart, Bill (Terri) Smith of Richmond, and Richard Wilmot of Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren and growing.

She was preceded by her parents; sons, Tommy Brown, Jeffrey Wilmot, and Kip Wilmot; and brother, Myron Trotter.
