Marilyn L. Jenkins, 82, of Hollansburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully, on Monday, October 10, 2022, at her home. She was born on May 27, 1940, in Hollansburg, to the late Bland and Lova (Payne) Downing. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 57 years, Doug Jenkins; her grandson, Jordan Douglas Jenkins, and her granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Gardner; and her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Barry McClear. Marilyn grew up on her family’s farm just outside of Hollansburg. She would always talk about going to the Richmond Farmers Market with her dad to sell the produce they had grown. She was a 1958 graduate of Westmont High School. She had a talent for music. She loved to sing and played numerous instruments. She played the saxophone, guitar, and played piano and gave private piano lessons. Before she and Doug were married, she travelled all over the country with her sister, Evelyn. They would hop on a train and go on adventures together. When she and Doug started their family, everything else was secondary. She was a homemaker, chef, taxi driver, and cheerleader for her kids and grandkids. She loved gardening and could grow anything. She was more about giving then receiving, but she wouldn’t turn down a box of chocolates. Early in life she started collecting Dutch boys and girls. Over the years, she has amassed a collection of over 500 sets. She was outgoing, friendly, and selfless, always thinking of others. When she was out, she would make it a point to talk to people and smile at babies. Marilyn is survived by her children, Vonda Gardner (Tom Johnson) of Richmond, Indiana, Vanessa Jenkins of Hollansburg, and Dallas Jenkins, of Anderson, Indiana; her grandson, Bryce Dalzell-Jenkins; her nephews, Ben and Caton McClear; her niece, Julie McClear; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, October 14, 2022, at Tribute Funeral Homes, New Madison Campus, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg Cemetery. Marilyn’s family will be receiving guests on Friday, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home in New Madison.
