Marie A. Venditto Hopper, 81, formerly of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, after suffering from Multiple Sclerosis and Lymphoma. Marie was born on December 21, 1940, to Nicholas and Angela Venditto of Allentown, Pennsylvania. After Marie graduated as salutatorian from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1958, she went on to enjoy a successful career in several fields, including Centerville-Abington School District, First National Bank, Richmond Convention & Tourism Bureau, and most notably, the Continuing Medical Education Department of Reid Hospital. While living in Richmond, Marie was an active community member in many organizations, including, the local Kiwanis Club where she formerly served as president, and the American Businesswomen’s Association , where she was named woman of the year in 1988. Marie loved spending time with her family and friends, baking Kipfels, and playing Bridge and Pinochle. She was an avid reader and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles with her husband, Gerry. She was a devoted wife, mother, and nana and will be immensely missed by her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Gerard (Gerry), their three children: Patricia (Kim) Lykken, Michael Hopper, and Kathleen (Reed) Clark, and grandchildren: Hannah (Adam) Schaefer, Emma Clark, and Andrew Lykken. Also surviving are her sisters, Janet (Jay) Stralo and Diane Finnegan, in-laws Darlene Venditto, Jack Hopper, and MaryAnne LaBoue, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Nicholas, and her brother-in-law, Walter Finnegan. Marie’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the many employees at both Norwich Springs Health Campus and Bella Care Hospice who cared for her this past year. Visitation will be held at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Rd. W., Richmond, Indiana, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 684 S. Third Street, Columbus, Ohio, where the family will receive loved ones and friends beginning at noon.
