Lucille Harless, 94, longtime resident of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Addison Place Senior Living. She was born April 29, 1927 in Byrdstown, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Garrett) Thompson.

She was a 1946 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School. She was a hairdresser for 30 years, owning her own business. She also served as President of the Henry County Hairdresser Association for a number of years.

Lucille enjoyed countess happy hours playing cards and games with family and friends, traveling, and dancing at the Henry County Shrine Club. She was a member of the New Castle Elks and served on her high school class reunion committee. Lucille enjoyed life, people and socializing!

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Ed) Dawes, Bobbie (Mike) Hess, both of New Castle; grandson, Brian (Kari) Hess; great grandson, Layton Hess of Fishers. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews; and her very dear friend, Nancy Beavers.

In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Harless.

The family wishes to send an enormous thanks to Director Jackie Adams, Head of Nursing Pam Craig, nursing staff and daily caregivers/support at Addison Place who took such perfect care of Lucille and gave her family peace of mind. The family would also like to thank Henry County Hospice, who guided her peacefully through her transition.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
