Lorene George, 95, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, September 4, at Rosebud Village.
She was born in Laurel County, Kentucky on January 23, 1927 to George Berton “Bert” & Mayme Maude Dezarn Garland. She married Carmon Edward George on November 25, 1944. They were blessed with 54 years together until his death on March 6, 1999. Lorene was devoted to her family and was a faithful member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Lorene will be missed by her daughters, Sharon Sittloh, Rita Hornaday & husband, Jim, Sheila George; sons, Jim George & wife, Diana, and Lindon George; six grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces & nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Carolyn George; son, Barry Glen George; grandson, Matthew Sittloh; sister, Alene Young and brothers Orville and Odell Garland.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9 in Fairfield Cemetery near Greens Fork. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged for Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 794 South Round Barn Road, Richmond, IN 47374.
