Larry Paul Durham, 83, of Springport, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his home following a brief illness while surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 15, 1938 in Kokomo, a son of the late Paul Edward and Jennie Elizabeth (Harwood) Durham.

After high school, Larry served in the U.S. Army where he spent three years in France. A previous member of First Assembly of God in New Castle for 32 years, he ran the Shepherd’s Door Food Pantry there. He was also a former member of Faith Assembly of Anderson where he served as General Contractor when the new church was built, and over 20 years at Northside Assembly of God. He was presently a member of First Baptist Church of New Castle.

Larry retired from Allegheny Ludlum in New Castle after many years of service in the Maintenance Dept. Always serving people, he enjoyed helping his neighbors, other church members, and anyone in need. He was a consummate handyman, Journeyman plumber, and could repair anything. He owned and operated Four Seasons Heating and Air with his business partner Gerald Cooper for several years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 61 years, Helen F. (Garner) Durham of Springport; children, Rev. Ken (Tina) Durham of New Castle, Annette (Rev. Steve) McPeek of Kendallville, IN, and Sharon (Kelly) Stewart of Springport; grandchildren, Kolby (Leah) Durham, Kaleb Durham, Kyler (Aimee) Durham, Kenton (Kristianna) Durham, Brock (Leslie) McPeek, Danielle (Zac) Schwartz, Carissa Stewart, and J. Paul (fiancé,Emily Klotz) Stewart; great grandchildren, Emma, Brylie, Alexa, Addy, Grayson, Gavin, Lincoln, Landon, Jadyn, Asher, and Solomon; a sister, Mary Ellen Lee of Greentown; a brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Durham of Kokomo; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lola Brown and a brother, Mark Durham.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022, and 11-12:00 on Monday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. noon Monday, January 10, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastors Jerry Ingalls and Steve Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the United States Army and the New Castle American Legion Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church, 709 S.
