Larry was the only child of Floyd and Bonnie Hacker. He was a 1959 graduate of Chrysler High School. In 1961, Larry married Carol Whittenburg and had their daughter, Page. Larry worked with his father for several years building homes at Hacker Home Construction. Larry also worked at Trainor Springs in New Castle.
In 1980, Larry married Susie Kirkpatrick and became stepfather to Stacy and Dana Kirkpatrick. Larry and Susie lived in Indianapolis and Greenfield. Larry retired from Max Katz Bag in Indianapolis.
While Larry retired early due to his own health reasons, it soon became necessary for him to become the primary caregiver for his wife Susie after her brain cancer diagnosis. Larry was dedicated to taking care of Susie and to finding care that would enable them to continue to live together. In 2019, Larry and Susie moved to Greenfield so Susie could live at Springhurst Nursing Home where she lived until her death in April 2022.
As Larry’s health continued to decline, in May 2021 he made the difficult decision to leave Greenfield and move to Fort Worth to live with his daughter, Page, and her husband, Bart Hines. While Larry lived in Fort Worth only a few months before his death, he had a wonderful time sitting on the patio, playing with the dogs, going out to dinner, and meeting for the first time, his twin two-year-old step-great grandchildren.
