Seara Burton

RICHMOND, Ind. – K-9 Officer Seara Burton, age 28, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Reid Health, surrounded by her family, from injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Born December 17, 1993, in Richmond, Indiana, to Jennifer Miller and Scott Burton, Seara was a lifelong resident of this area. She was a graduate of Northeastern High School, the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, and Vohne Liche Kennels.

Seara served as a Richmond Police Officer for four years and recently achieved her dream of becoming a K-9 handler.

She loved her family and was a very strong and passionate person. Seara will be remembered for her laughter, her smile, and her sense of humor. She had an incredibly positive outlook and a compassionate nature.

Survivors include her soulmate and wife, Sierra Neal; “son” and partner, K-9 Brev; Mom and “Ma,” Jennifer and Ami Miller; grandparents, Jan Statzer, David Monger, Jacque Burton, and Matt Burton; two sisters; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Visitation for K-9 Officer Seara Burton will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the Richmond Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2022, in the Tiernan Center at Richmond High School, 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond, with Mayor Dave Snow officiating.

Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Heroes of Public Safety, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
