Judy C. Dreaden, age 75, of Centerville, Indiana, died Friday, June 3, 2022, at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born May 6, 1947, in Berea, Kentucky, to William Cecil and Flora Mae Brown Purcell, Judy lived in this area most of her life. She attended Richmond High School and worked as a pharmacy technician at Richmond State Hospital for 32 years.
Judy’s world revolved around her kids and grandkids, and she was happiest when her family were all together and celebrating holidays or birthdays. She lived her life for her family, and it fulfilled her. Only those touched by her presence and love will know how lovely it truly was. Judy was the center foundation and rock of the family, and her absence will be felt by many. She will also be remembered for her unconditional love, her sense of humor, and for being a great cook.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa (Jeff) Bowen of Richmond, Vicki (Darrin) Dawes of Centerville, Jamie (Grant) Reece of New Paris, Ohio, Mandi (Ryan) Chiddister of Centerville; grandchildren, Kristi (Cody) Dudley, Megan Alvey, Abbi (Daniel) Cox, Katie (RJ) Hampton, Ryan (Katie) Dawes, Camren and Carsen Munchel, and Lilly, Elly, Camilla, and Lane Waters; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Diane) Purcell of Lexington, Kentucky, nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James F. Dreaden, who died December 14, 2020; beloved granddaughter, Sarah Mae Dawes; parents; brothers, William Purcell and James Purcell; and sisters, Charlotte Purcell, Glenna Purcell, and Carol Jean Riddle.
A Celebration of Life for Judy Cheryl Dreaden will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Crown Hill Cemetery.
