Jill Wendel, 74, of Plainfield, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022 at IU Health West in Avon.
She was born August 27, 1948 in Connersville to Glen Jerald and Anita Perkins Grubbs. She was a 1966 graduate of Alquina High School and graduated from Glasgow Nursing School in Glasgow, Kentucky.
Jill worked as an ER nurse for both Rush Memorial Hospital and Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
She was a loving mother who devoted her life to raising her two girls. Her grandsons were her pride and joy. Jill was a devout Christian who enjoyed spending time making memories with her family.
Jill was an avid camper with the Krazy Quilt Campers and a ten year 4H member. She enjoyed watching IU Basketball and attending her grandson’s activities. She was an excellent cook and took pride in making meals for those she loved.
Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her girls strong values and faith that have served them well.
Survivors include two children, Amy (Zack) Lievens of Coatesville and Allison Wendel of Fishers; three grandchildren, Christian Wendel, Cooper Lievens, and Henry Lievens; a brother, Jay (Joni) Grubbs of Carthage; seven nieces and nephews, Derek (Betsy) Grubbs of McCordsville, Tiffany (Allen) Wampler of Milton, Michael (Kylie) Turner of Glenwood, Katie (Josh) Smith of Knightstown, Stacey (Eric) Paille of Fishers, Andrew (Courtney) Grubbs of Knightstown, and Brandon (Becca) Grubbs of Wanamaker; two uncles, Charles (Becky) Grubbs and Leslie (Opal) Grubbs, all of Connersville; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving brother, Bill Grubbs.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, Connersville. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with nephew, Pastor Brandon Grubbs officiating. A private burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
