Jerry W. “Bones” Ryan, age 75, of Richmond, Indiana, chose to be reunited with his wife, Sandy “Lou” Ryan on November 26, 2022.
Born October 11, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, to Harry Edward and Georgie May Burket Ryan, Jerry was a life-long resident of this area. He retired from the Indiana Army National Guard after 36 years of service. He started his career in 1966 with the 1-151 Airborne Battalion, then Echo Company Long Range Patrol Unit and later Delta Company Rangers. He worked at OMS-5, a maintenance shop for military vehicles in Richmond, for 25 years. He was also assigned to Bravo Company, Winchester, where he helped with vehicle maintenance. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his son, John (Tracy) Ryan of Carthage, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sandy “Lou” Brelage Ryan, who died on September 12, 2022; parents; and siblings, William “Bill” Ryan, Richard “Dick” Ryan, and Shirlee Mae Ryan King,
Memorial Visitation for Jerry W. “Bones” Ryan will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Chalk officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
