James Russell “Whitey” White, 79, of Richmond, went home to be with the LORD at his home after a long illness, January 6, 2022. He was born August 24, 1942, in Richmond to Russell and Audrey Davison White; he grew up on the outskirts of New Paris on a farm and lived in this area all of his life.

Whitey attended several area churches; he was a member of the Kiwanis International in New Paris, and Vintage Wheels in Richmond.

He worked as a body repairman for Vivian Buick, Bob Ross Buick, Studebaker Buick, IRC&D, and owned Whitey’s Quality Body Shop in New Paris.

He enjoyed Auctioneering, classic cars, and auto racing; he also ran the annual Apple Fest car show in New Paris until his health failed him.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Barbara, one daughter Julie (Thomas) Westrick of Indianapolis, two granddaughters Megan, Maddie, two brothers William (Lila) White of West Milton, Ohio, Ronald (Vicki) White of Midway, Ohio, one sister Nancy Bruggeman of Lizella, Georgia, several nieces, nephews, and cousins; two special friends Jim Ramey of Tennessee, and Joe Hoover of Greenwood.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 11:00 AM January 14, 2022, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rick Baber officiating; burial will be at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 13th at the funeral home.
