Harold L. Bowlby, 82, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 25. Harold was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 25, 1940 to Samuel W. & Helen L. Shepherd Bowlby, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1958 graduate of North Webster High School and a 1972 graduate of Olivet Nazarene College. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Harold ministered in the Nazarene Church, serving where called in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. He retired from Achieva Resources in 2006. He enjoyed playing softball when his health permitted and liked to watch Colts football and Cubs baseball. Harold was a faithful husband, a loving father and a simple, humble man who loved the Lord Jesus. He was a faithful member of the Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene, where he and Billie Sue were recipients of the Distinguished Service Award. Harold will be missed by his wife of 60 years, the former Billie Sue Smith, whom he married on September 16, 1962; sons, Stephen Bowlby, Thomas Bowlby and David Bowlby & wife, Audrey; sister, Opal Miller; and nieces & nephews. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. –1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28 at the Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene, 8503 Pleasant Street in Williamsburg. Harold’s homegoing will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, at the church. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville.
