Harold Arthur Raver Jr. age 91 of Richmond, Indiana passed from this earth to be with Jesus during the early morning hours of March 5, 2022. His passing was after a brief illness that followed a major stroke he had during surgery.
Harold was born on March 29, 1930, to Harold A. Raver Sr. and Roseabelle (Easton) Raver (Davies). He had lived in Peru, Indiana, Raleigh, Indiana, and the Richmond / Centerville, Indiana area. In his childhood, he lived with his parents and siblings in Boston, Indiana. He met and later married Rhea J. Davies in 1949 and they enjoyed many years of marriage until her death in 1994. They had three children, Harold L. Raver, Belinda Lainhart, and Tonya Young. Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He also enjoyed target shooting and had a passion for collecting various items and shopping for a bargain. He also enjoyed gardening, and for many years planted and harvested a huge garden. Harold had attended and been an active member of the Community Church of The Cross and later attended the Abington Christian Church. Harold had previously been an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police #63 of Richmond, the Old Trails Rifle and Pistol Club, Richmond Conservation Club, and Richmond Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Harold enlisted in the United States Army (Airborne) and was a Korean War Veteran.
Harold was known to be a very hard worker and had been a cement finisher for most of his working career. He was a 50-year member of the Operative Plasterer’s And Cement Masons’ International Association and a local union. He had previously worked for Oberle and Associates and had also been the owner and operator of Rose City Pools.
He is survived by his son, Harold L. Raver (Shirley). Grandchildren: Angela Raver Kulick (Joe), Jeananne Klingman (Bryon), Sherry Harris (Jeremy), and Timothy Ratliff (Angela). Great Grandchildren, Zjon, Daniel, and Traetyn. Sister-In-Law Betty Davis (Monty). Also, many nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to Harold as Uncle Jr. and special friends Miles Manning and Sherry Gentry.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife Rhea, parents Harold A. Raver Sr. and Roseabelle and Morgan Davies, two daughters Belinda Lainhart and Tonya Young, Siblings: Robert Raver Sr. (Betty), Sue Centers (Bill), Shirley Conway (Pete), Jack Raver (Iris /Jeannie) and special friend Jesse Brogdon.
For the past few years, Harold was a resident of Golden Living Center Golden Rule. The family wishes to thank the nursing facility administration, staff, and his immediate nurses, for their loving and excellent care provided to him. Also special thanks to the Doctors, nurses, and staff of Reid Hospital and Hospice of Reid Health who attended to Harold and assisted in his comfort during his last days.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, with burial and military rites in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M.
