Harlan “Butch” Jaye McCullum, 77, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Butch was born on November 27, 1944 in Connersville, Indiana; the late son of Ralph “Doc” and Betty McCullum, and the grandson of late Adelaide McCullum. He attended Harrisburg School and worked on farms in the area, including his future father-in-law: Bob Murray’s farm. While working with Bob, Butch was able to learn and create custom work for many farmers. He was employed by several companies including: M.E.G (former M&D), Philco Ford, and Design & Manufacturing, in the maintenance department. In addition, Butch was a Journeyman electrician and Journeyman in machine repair. He was a successful businessman, owning MCM Electrical Company. Butch later operated MCM Tool and Die Corporation until his retirement after many years of service. Butch was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and 40 & 8. He is a devoted lifetime member of the NRA and Williston Shooters Club. Butch enjoyed Elk hunting trips out West and camping trips with his wife and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who know and love him.
In addition to his loving wife of 36 years, Gloria (Gordon) McCullum, Butch is survived by his children: Robert J (Margie) McCullum of Coco, Florida, Jeff (Darlene) McCullum of Connersville, Indiana Stacey McCullum (Jeremy) Elliott of Eaton, Ohio, and Randy McCullum of Connersville, Indiana; stepdaughter: Lana Lucas Sweney and Vince Alvaro, of Michigan; siblings: Tim (Dolores) McCullum, Judy Chaney, Rusty (Renee) McCullum, and Kristie Hetisimer; six grandchildren: Robert J McCullum Jr, Heather Morton, Elizabeth Bair, Morgan McCullum, Christina Sweeney, and Joshua Sweney; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents; sister: Georgia Lou Walker; brother-in-laws: Arlan Chaney and Dick Hetisimer; his beloved canine companion: Daisy.
At Butch’s request, a celebration of life will be conducted at the convenience of his family.
