George A. “Junie” McGathey III, was born on September 17, 1960, in Richmond, Indiana to George A. McGathey Jr. and Ethel Mae Jett Williams McGathey.

Tuscumbia, Alabama is where he resided since 1983. He was baptized at Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Weathers. He was active in the youth choir directed by his mother. He attended Richmond Community Schools. He was employed with Waste Management Co. for 20 years, being a mechanic and over the road driver until his health declined. He enjoyed his free time watching sports, working on cars and spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children Kimberly L. Neloms of Tuscumbia, Alabama, Calvin E. Hampton Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee and Joey (Lisa) M. Hampton of Tuscumbia, Alabama; 9 grandchildren Alexis Neloms, Alysia Hampton, Kadarius Neloms, Breanna Hampton, Brendon Neloms Cayla Hampton, Jaiten Vann, Landon Ingram and Lucy Ingram; step mother Hattie McGathey; 5 brothers Seaborn Blane Dock, James T. McGathey, William E. McGathey, Kevin S. McGathey and Joshua Jackson; sisters Denice White and Tamara Jackson; nieces Maelisha McGathey and Mae Dock, nephews William A. McGathey and Cameron Dock; aunts Jacqueline Bynum, Eleanor Isom, Sarah Adams of Pittsburgh, Pa, Shirley Ann Moveland of Indianapolis, Indiana; uncles William E. (Wilma) McGathey and Keith (Regina) McGathey; sister-in-law Garnell McGathey; special friend Brenda Faye Freeman and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. George and Ethel Mae McGathey, paternal grandparents George and Jacie McGathey, maternal grandparents Albert and Nellie Williams, special aunt Doris Jean Burke, uncle Kenneth McGathey, nephews Dewayne Dock, Kimothy Johnson, Joshua Jackson and Jha’Ron Kennedy.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 12 noon at Community Family Funeral Home, 101 W Main St., Richmond, Indiana 47374, where calling hours will be held Saturday from 10am-12noon. Burial will be held in Earlham Cemetery. Services entrusted to Community Family Funeral Home.
