Evelyn E. Stoten, 99, of New Castle passed away Friday early morning, October 7, 2022 at her residence. She was born May 2, 1923 in Knightstown, Indiana, a daughter of the late Frank A. and Belva (Webster) Edwards.
Evelyn was a 1942 graduate of Lewisville High School, where she was a cheerleader. She had been employed at Coca Cola Bottling Company from 1942 until 1944 at Gulfport, Mississippi while her husband was stationed at Gulfport Field Air Force Base. When her husband, Wendell had surgery for cancer in 1957 and was rehabilitating she took over the duties of farming, driving a tractor, operating a corn picker, feeding the livestock and 1000 chickens. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for many years. Evelyn’s hobbies were sewing and making doll clothes for Western Electric in Indianapolis, there the employees dressed dolls for Christmas gifts. Evelyn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in various church activities. Liking the outdoors, she enjoyed camping in the RV and gardening.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Stoten and Marilyn Stoten; grandson, David Whitted; and great granddaughter, Alexis Whitted.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Stoten in 2009; and a sister, Josephine Wiker.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, Indiana with Rev. Michelle White officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
