DiAnna Dawn Hornsby, 62, of Connersville passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Reid Health of Richmond following a brief illness.
A life-long resident of the Connersville area, she was born on October 21, 1960, the youngest of three children of Joe and Faye A. Grizzel Thornsbury. She was a 1979 graduate of Connersville Senior High School.
On November 7, 1981, DiAnna was married to Gale Douglas Hornsby at the Gortner Memorial Church of the Nazarene. Doug passed away January 26, 2022.
A licensed Beautician, DiAnna owned and operated Hers and His Beauty Salon for over two decades. Most recently she was associated with KC & Co. until she retired in May of 2022.
With her family she attended the Park Place Church of God but most recently had enjoyed the services at Alquina United Methodist Church. DiAnna was a founding member of the Everton Ever-Ready Homemakers’ Club. In her leisure she loved to travel and she made many lasting memories with friends and family on her adventures. She cherished spending time with her two granddaughters and sharing with her family was always a priority.
DiAnna is survived by two sons Derek Douglas (Julia) Hornsby of Hagerstown and Devin Patrick (Lindsay) of Connersville, two granddaughters, Macie and Rylie Hornsby, a sister, Debbie (Max) Soliday of Hagerstown, a nephew, Jayson (Nicole) Soliday of Fishers, a niece, Holli (Tim) Shields of Anderson, great nieces and nephews, Wesley, Gracie, Arden, Ainsley, Samuel, an aunt Hazel Overton of Greenwood, an uncle, Vernon Grizzel of Rushville, several cousins, and a sister-in-law, Darla (David) Henley and their children Madeline and Jacob Henley of Hagerstown.
Besides her husband of 40 years, Doug Hornsby, she was preceded in death by her mother Faye A. Thornsbury on July 17, 2010, a brother, Ronnie Joe Thornsbury on December 22, 2020, two aunts, Hope Grizzel and Joanna Thurman, her parents-in-law Gale and Juanita Hornsby and a brother- in-law David William Hornsby. Her father, Joe Thornsbury, passed away after DiAnna’s death on December 23, 2022.
Family and Friends may attend a visitation for both DiAnna and her father, Joe Thornsbury, from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. on Tuesday January 3, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1 P.M. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Judd officiating. The family requests that everyone in attendance please wear a mask. Burial will follow for DiAnna at Everton Cemetery.
