Cassandra “Sonnie” Coyner, age 76, formerly of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Heritage Woods of Noblesville surrounded by her family.

Born August 9, 1945, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, to William Orie and Thelma Mahala Jones Knipp, Sonnie lived in Richmond most of her life. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1964. Sonnie was a member of Southview Church of the Nazarene, formerly St. Paul Church of the Nazarene. She preferred a full house and relished any chance to entertain anyone that came to her door. Sonnie loved her family more than anything. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Sonnie loved playing cards, and she had quite a competitive streak and was a formidable opponent in a card game of hand and foot. Sonnie loved to sew and quilt, and she made the “World’s Best Peanut Butter Fudge”. Sonnie always had a vast shoe collection, but in her last years she became a bit of a sneaker fan. Sonnie loved fiercely and was loved just as fiercely in return. The family will miss her laugh, her lively spirit, and her feisty nature.

Survivors include her children, Beth Ann (Ryan) Felton of Modoc, Indiana, Rebecca Rae (Kevin) Nocton of Centerville, Indiana, Sherry Lynn (Tom) Slick of Fishers, Indiana, and Kevin James (Anne) Coyner of Indianapolis, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Rondale Hale “Ronnie” Knipp of Richmond and Oretta Farmer of Fountain City, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Wynonia “Winnie” Knipp.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Woods of Noblesville, as well as Community Hospital Hospice for the love and care they gave to Sonnie.
