Mrs. Carolyn Nicholson, 91, of Fountain City, passed away on Saturday, November 26.

Born on August 29, 1931 in Richmond, Indiana, she was the daughter of Thomas Edgar & Ada Irene Smith Short. She was a 1949 graduate of Hollansburg High School, where she was on the cheerleading squad for 2 years. She married Mack E. Nicholson on May 28, 1949. They were blessed with 3 children and 54 years of marriage before his death on October 23, 2004.

Mrs. Nicholson was a farm wife for many years and a homemaker. She later worked at Kresge and Avco in Richmond. She was a member of Lifespring Church. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed working outside. She enjoyed flower gardening and maintained one of the nicest yards in town.

Mrs. Nicholson will be missed by her son, Gary Nicholson; daughters & sons-in-law, Pam & Tom Fulton and Brenda & Jim Hollinger; grandchildren, Tim Fulton, Terry Fulton, Renee White and Beth Beard; several great-grandchildren; brother, Kenny Short; and several nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Nicholson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Lois McFarland and brothers, Phil Short, Wayne Short, Max Short and Don Short.

Visitation for Mrs. Nicholson will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1 at the funeral home, followed by interment in Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City.
