Carl Eugene “Pete” Sturgis, 66, a lifelong resident of Connersville, passed away Monday evening, April 4, 2022. He had been in failing health the past ten years.

Pete was born June 5, 1955 in Richmond, a son of Carl E. Sturgis, Sr. and Betty Howell Sturgis.

For many years he was a self-employed carpet installer. He was also an avid fisherman.

Survivors include three children, Rachel (Ozzy) Wehrman and Amy (Barandus) Watkins, both of Connersville, and Valerie Sturgis of Greenfield, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Brianna Bechert and Lexie Bechert, both of Alabama, Tyler Chaney, Jacob Byrd, Macy Tomlin, and Jaxon Proctor, all of Connersville, Logan Stokes and Layla Stokes, both of Greenfield; six great grandchildren; a sister, Lori (Red) Busse of Laurel; a brother, Joe (Brenda) Sturgis of Connersville; Pete’s companion, Debbie Mosier of Connersville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home where friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Dennis Perkins will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
