Bobby Ray Jones, 78, of New Castle, passed away Thursday morning, October 13, 2022 following an extended illness. He was born November 24, 1943 in Lexington, KY, a son of the late Gilbert and Edna (Griffin ) Jones.
Generally, a quiet man, Bobby enjoyed listening to Blue Grass, and was a great fan of George Jones and Willie Nelson. He liked watching Westerns and was an avid wood worker, making furniture for many of his family members. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Sherill Jones of New Castle, Julie (Jeff) Nott of Troy, IL, Scott (Amanda) Jones of Fortville, and Rachel (Janson) Tharp of New Castle; grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle) Newman of Japan, Bobbi Sue Asberry (Corbin Lacroix) of New Castle, Taylor (Tiffany) Nott of Granite City, IL, Trevor Nott of Troy, IL, Casey Jones and Miranda Jones, both of Fortville, Jordan (Jeff) Ballenger of New Castle, Ethan Tharp and Logan Tharp, both of New Castle; two great grandchildren, Max and Eli Newman; one brother, Tommy (Marty) Jones of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Sue Jones; siblings, Andy, Taylor, Lucy, Lula May, Mattie, Vicie, and Bo.
Services will be at 6 p.m., Monday, October 17, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Mark Herbkersman officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Monday prior to the service. Burial will be private at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Honor Guard, New York Ave., New Castle, IN 47362.
