He was born on February 6, 1950 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Hiram and Pauline (Ellnor) Helton.
Bill was a 1968 graduate of Chrysler High School, member of Open Arms Church in New Castle and loved to work. He worked in sales for Jones TV & Appliance, Quality Furniture, Henry County Flooring and Myers Furniture before retiring. It was known that Bill had a range of customers who would follow him wherever he went. Bill enjoyed watching Colts Football, Westerns, Lord of the Rings, Jeopardy and could answer all the questions. He had a great spirit and loved to tell jokes.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Brandy Helton (Brian Atkinson), Levi (Kayla) Helton, Mandy (Darrel) Alfrey and Melinda Helton; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Julia Jones; a niece, Linda (Kelly) Moistner and several close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Chad Helton and Josh Helton; two sisters, Caroline Sue and Joyce.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Kinser officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
Friends may call from 11 – 1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
