Barbara “Jane” Lucas, a life-long resident of Centerville, went to be with Jesus on January 6, 2022, after a life well lived.

Jane was born on August 5, 1933, to Claude and Lydia Wickersham. She leaves a legacy of love, generosity, and service to her family, friends, and community. Jane served many years at Centerville-Abington Community Schools. She loved playing the organ and piano for services at Abington Christian Church. Jane volunteered her time in recent years at the Centerville-Abington Senior Center and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She spent many hours loving her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Jane was a light to our community and made all who knew her feel loved and special. She was full of beauty and grace. Jane was one classy lady.

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Karen) Lucas, Bret (Debbie) Lucas, and Pam (David) Ford, all of Centerville; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many friends, including special friend, Phil Stevenson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William B. “Bill” Lucas, who died April 24, 2005; son, Jerry Lucas, who died in 1976; parents; sister; and brother.

Visitation for Barbara “Jane” Lucas will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Doddridge Chapel Cemetery.
