Barbara J. Cheeseman, age 97, passed away on Saturday January 1, 2022 at Reid Health. She was born in Richmond, Indiana on September 1, 1924 to Perry C. and Bernadine Menke Cox. Barbara is a Richmond High School graduate, class of 1942. She married Richard A. Cheeseman on October 30, 1947 and had been married 68 years before his passing. Barbara had worked at Knollenberg, Remsco, Perfect Circle and was a teacher’s aide and substitute teacher for the Catholic School. She and Richard spent several of their retirement years in Arizona and New Mexico volunteering for The Little Sisters of the Poor. Barbara enjoyed crafts, painting and raising dogs and birds. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Vicky C. (John) Hauptstueck, Charles D. Cheeseman, Angela E. (Rick) Revalee; siblings Lawrence “Bud” (Sara) Cox, Agnes Harsh and Donald Cox; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Richard; children Richard A. Cheeseman, Jr., Nicki B. Fulton and Marylee F. Mercer and granddaughter Rickilee Mercer.

Liturgy of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday January 8, 2022 at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Father Sengole Gnanaraj will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Andrews Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. on Saturday January 8, 2022 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s name to The American Cancer Society.
