Wilma Colter Offutt, 98, of Connersville passed away on December 9, 2021. She was born on September 4, 1923, to the late John Davis Colter and Helen Lucille Paris Colter.
On August 9, 1945, Wilma married Joseph Sinclair Offutt in Liberty, Indiana. They celebrated 61 years of wedded bliss prior to Sinclair’s passing on April 26, 2007.
Wilma was a secretary at the automobile factory McQuay- Norris. She then assisted her husband for many years with the operation of their family-owned auto/truck repair, body shop and towing service, Offutt’s Garage.
Wilma was an active member of Central Christian Church. She was an accomplice of the Adams and Eves Discipled Women. Wilma was a member of the Eastern Star, the Fayette Garden Club, and the Diabetes Club.
Wilma will be deeply missed by her children; two daughters: Jill Henninger Craig of Jacksonville, FL, Jann Offutt, MD of Columbus, OH, and two sons: Kent Offutt of Centerville, IN, and Chris Offutt of Vail, CO.
Wilma will be remembered by 7 grandchildren: Julie Ferm, Alicia Stadler, Devon Offutt, and Jane Schwertner Musaeus, Chris Betras, Jeff Henninger, and Jerry Henninger. Her memories will be cherished forever by her great-grandchildren: Holly Schwertner Abling, Evan Schwertner, Miera Ferm, Brian Ferm, Louis Ferm, Alice Ferm, Alexis Henninger, Brianna Henninger, Bowen Henninger, and William Sinclair Henninger, John D. Henninger and five more great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, 4 brothers: Omar, Jim, Chet and Don Colter, and her sister Emma Jane Colter.
Visitation for Wilma will be held on Thursday December 16, 2021 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Urban Winkler funeral home, 513 W. 8th St., Connersville. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
