William Devion Sutton, age 88, a New Castle resident, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Henry Community Health. He was born October 24, 1932 in Russell County, Kentucky and was the son of Henry and Mae (Lawless) Sutton.
He married Twilla Mae Ocker in 1969 and retired from Indiana Muncie Bridge Company. He was a Free Mason for 47 years. Known as “Worm” and “Bill” by many, he loved spending his time with his grandkids, family and friends in New Castle and traveling to Kentucky where he would enjoy time there as well. He especially enjoyed going to the John Jenkins Shop in New Castle where he would spend time with his buddies. Bill enjoyed watching Kentucky Basketball, The Indiana Pacers, Cincinnati Reds and NASCAR.
Left to cherish his loving memory include children, Diane Groce (Larry) of Mechanicsburg, James and Danny Sutton of New Castle, Billy McFalls (Mary) of Spiceland, Jean Flynn of Georgia; his siblings, Dewey (Mertle), Herman, Goble and Ebert (Diane); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Twilla Sutton who passed away earlier this year on February 5th., sisters, Virginia Buster and Freddie Marlow, Christine Denney; brothers, Clarence, Lawrence, and Alford Sutton; sister-in-law, Catha Sutton, son-in-law, Steve Flynn.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Wednesday at Macer-Hall-Marcum & Moffitt Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m., until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral directors and staff are honored to serve the Sutton family.
