Sylvia Floyd, age 79, Richmond, passed away October 3, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 21, 1942, to Samuel and Lou Emma Reece in Lee County, Kentucky.

Sylvia had lived in Wayne County most of her life and was a graduate of Richmond Community Schools. She was an avid reader, mostly mystery books one right after the other. She also loved to sew and her passion was making beautiful quilts. Sylvia was the rock of her family and thoroughly enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her great grandchildren visiting often surprising them with gifts. She also was an animal lover, taking care of all strays. Sylvia was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, one son: Thomas Darryl Floyd; two daughters: Darla Floyd and Denise Gingry (Scott); six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one brother: Robert Reece.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Thomas Lee Floyd; son: James Derick Floyd; daughter: Dana Shaw; granddaughter: Heather Clark; three brothers: Sherman Reece, Thurman Reece and Jewel Reece; and two sisters: Hazel Burge and Carlie Lowe.

Funeral services will be held at Community Family Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 4 PM, with Pastor Randy officiating.
