Born October 14, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, to Eddie and Evalee Huffaker Day, Ruth was a life-long resident of this community. She formerly worked as a CNA at Cedar Springs Nursing Home. Ruth was a member of Temple of God Church, where she helped with the food pantry. Ruth was a loving and kind woman, who never met a stranger and treated everyone like family. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Ruth was the rock of her family and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary (William) Jenkins, Sandra Richardson, Karla (Kevin) Golder, Patty (Lee) O’Donnell, and Charley (Alejandro) Padron, all of Richmond; grandchildren, Jeff, Dean, Chuck, Jerry, Tasha, Stacia, Cedric, Tommy, Jacob, Sonya, Dylan, David, Jimmy, Faith, L.J., Samantha, Courtney, Mariela, Alex, and Leno; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Parms; nieces; nephews; aunts, including special aunts, Joyce White and Opal Burgess; uncles; cousins; and many friends, including special friends, Doris Spencer and Sandy Albertson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Charles O. “Bud” Mills, who died December 11, 2000; sons-in-law, Doug Richardson and Duane Head; father, Eddie Day; mother and stepfather, Evalee and Thomas Barker; brothers, Eddie Huffaker and Charlie and Terry Day; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation for Ruth A. Mills will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Temple of God Church, 1005 Hunt Street, Richmond with Pastor William H. Lewellen officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
