Robert Leslie Jacobs, 98, of Cambridge City, passed away on Monday September 20, 2021 at IU Health Saxony Hospital in Fishers, Indiana. He was born at home on January 17, 1923 to Walter L. and Marie (Crull) Jacobs. Bob graduated from Cambridge City High School in 1940. He served in the US Army from Nov. 23, 1948 until Dec. 12, 1949 and after being discharged lived in St. Louis, Missouri and worked for Brown Shoe Company. While working there he met his future wife, Lorene Henry.

They married on May 27, 1950 and later moved to Cambridge City. Bob took several factory jobs before going to work for the Post Office. He started as a rural mail carrier on Aug. 1, 1955 on Route 1 and transferred to Route 2 in 1964 and continued with the Post office until he retired on Nov. 30, 1990.

Bob was a member of Jacksonburg Christian Church. He golfed regularly up through the age of 93. He loved being with his family, especially his grand kids.

He is survived by his sons, Gary (Nancy) Jacobs and Jeffrey Jacobs; grand kids, Matthew (Colleen) Jacobs, Jennifer (Brandon) Coffer, Megan (Travis) Perdue and Ross (Niki) Jacobs; great grand kids, Sarah Jacobs, Tyson Jacobs, Carsyn Coffer, Crosley Coffer, Caleb Perdue, Harper Perdue and Sophie Jacobs.

In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Lorene Henry Jacobs, who passed away on Nov. 11, 1984 and his daughter-in-law, Joanna Jacobs who passed away on September 19, 2010.

Friends may call on Saturday September 25, 2021 at Jacksonburg Christian Church from 11 AM until the start of the funeral service at 1 PM. Jamie Fagan will be officiating and burial will follow at Jacksonburg Cemetery.
